Think about it.

Are you on Facebook? Do you have countless logins and passwords to many websites?

Do you write, comment, download, upload, get active on many community sites?

Do you have a 100% up-to-date backup of all the content you cherish online?

Always keep in mind there there is usually a SERVER out there, CONTROLLED by people you do not know, who have ULTERIOR MOTIVES to run those servers (as the name implies it should serve YOU, but instead it serves THEM), and you should always be prepared for the scenario when all of a sudden without any prior warning your access to those servers will be denied.

So, you could swiftly lose all that information that you cherish anytime in the future.

If that bothers you (as it probably should), my suggestion is that you do NOT allocate your time to ANY of such services, instead look for solutions where the control over your information is in YOUR hands, and your hands ONLY.

As a first step, consider a) having your own domain and b) your own hosting (the two not necessarily should be in the same place, better if not), and c) creating your own content easily (like this blog, for instance).

Concrete other examples come later but you got the picture. In general, be smart and wise, don't be like the monkey in the picture above. Peace
